John McArthur is the current Managing Director of GMS. He is responsible for managing and maintaining the business’s vision, strategy and business development. John has had a long and successful business in the welding and metal fabrication industry.

Over a period of 27 years John has owned and managed three metal fabrication businesses:

• Toronto Sheet Metal P/L specialising in Sheet metal fabrication.
• J&T Mc Arthur P/L – specialising in Rathmines Stainless steel
  and general steel fabrication.
• McArthur Manufacturing P/L – specialising in the manufacture
  of underground mining components.

John sold the final business in April 2006, retiring at the age of 59.

Due to his financial interest in GMS and relevant business experience, John has come out of retirement to manage the business through the commercialisation phase into profitability.
